Description:

Imagine that you are in the unenviable position of finding some unknown, running, and potentially malicious executable program on an important system. Perhaps, you have become another victim of an exploit kit.

Join Patrick Malcolm and learn more about how to respond to the Exploit Kits using a simple set of analysis tools, built from free and readily available software.

We will explore the following:

  • What are exploit kits (EK)?
  • How did this malware get here?
  • How can I get rid of it?
  • What did they steal?
  • How long has it been here?
  • Does it spread on its own?
  • How can I find it on other machines?
  • How do I prevent this from happening in the future?
  • Why didn’t our security program protect us?

NOTE: This is a technical presentation. Everything will be done at the command prompt.
