Description:
We’re at the beginning of the 4th industrial revolution, and artificial intelligence is seem to be the most important technological development of the 21st century, at the heart of a new wave of innovation.
The presentation will look at the current state of the industry as it relates to its current usage of technology, challenges and traditional outlook on investigations before looking at recent developments around artificial intelligence. Performing effective investigations tomorrow might be very different than what we know today, and we will reflect on existing cases of internal as well as external fraud and how artificial intelligence can be leveraged today and in the near short term. There is a strong belief that the current solutions, investigative approaches and best practices are not keeping fast enough with technology used by criminals and so the speaker would like to take a step back and discuss what is necessary to reverse this cycle beyond existing data analytics. Even the most advanced tools currently available only identify events in the past or near-past, often only events that they have been programmed to finds in advance rather than general conditions that indicate controls are weak or failing. Advances in automated data science and pattern detection will enable automated tools to self-configure themselves and detect control failures before they happen.
